Schmitt & Co has been in the self storage business since 1978 when we developed our first self storage facility. Now we focus exclusively on managing self storage properties for other owners and for ourselves.
We currently manage 12 self storage properties in the greater Bay Area and one in Boulder, Colorado and have the capacity to take on four more if the opportunity seems attractive to us.
One of our main strengths is that we are small, very hands-on. For example, our ratio of properties per site supervisor at full capacity will be 8 to 1. That is a low ratio for the industry and it allows us to spend a lot of time with each property.
Our staff, pictured above, is a well qualified group of very competent people from varied but related backgrounds. Debbie Jirasek, our general manager and one of our two site supervisors, has a strong background in sales and marketing. Lori McGreevy, the other site manager, has a background in retailing and personnel training. Lynne Painter, our accounting manager, is a CPA. Karrie Ryan, our accounting assistant has an extensive bookkeeping background.
Before I started Schmitt & Co I was involved in consumer products marketing (Director of Marketing for New Products at Pillsbury) for twelve years and then was CEO and lead investor in a small consumer foods company for three years.
