We were asked to manage an 800 unit self storage facility in Millbrae in June of 2005. It was a serious challenge with an economic occupancy of around 50%, a temporary and totally ineffective on-site staff, no visibility, very poor accounting records, a leaky roof – the list goes on.

The owner had just acquired the property realizing that it had great upside potential but needed the right people to make it happen, to turn this property into “a jewel” is how he put it. And that’s exactly what we did with a team including a very competent and creative contractor, an excellent graphics designer, my staff and many others.

Our team did a total makeover including a major physical upgrade, a new name, a new logo, and a new and very competent on-site staff. There is a story behind this pole sign, like why is it so tall? Answer: so it can be seen from a very busy overpass.

After six months we had completed the total makeover. Look what happened to the income stream then!
