We manage a large self storage facility located in north Sacramento on I-80. The problem was that all the cars were zipping by the property but there was no prominent signage to tell the local traffic who we were and how to reach us.

Ever seen or heard of the famous Burma Shave roadside billboards from the 50’s? If not check out (click sample here). Well, we took a page out of their playbook and put “rooftop billboards”- actually banners – on some of our buildings to increase our visibility and identification. The banners said in the true Burma Shave fashion the following: Attention Please!/You are Passing/ The Area’s Greatest/ Self Storage/With the Best Prices/Longview Drive Self Storage/916 483-2977

Did it work? Oh yes! Our inquiry rate increased dramatically and we got lots of laughs (and rentals later) from people driving by calling in on their cell phones.
